“A sweet and spicy story about found family, taking chances on love, and getting through your Saturn return.”—Elissa Sussman, bestselling author of Funny You Should Ask
A newly single queer woman moves to New Orleans and sets off on a mission to find her most compatible match by going on a date with someone of each astrological sign in this rom-com from the Lambda Literary Award–nominated author of Queerly Beloved.
Reeling from a breakup with her long-term partner, Gray—an optimistic lesbian Aries—relocates to New Orleans for a new job. Gray wants to meet someone, settle down, and build the loving, accepting family she’s always wanted, but having been out of the dating scene for a decade, she has no idea where to start. After visiting an iconic astrologer, Gray and her best friend, Cherry, draw up a dramatic scheme: Gray will go on a date with someone of each zodiac sign to test their compatibility and get a jump start on creating the queer family of her dreams—all before her twenty-ninth birthday, when Saturn will usher in a major turning point in her life.
Gray’s got her hands full getting to know her new city, proving herself at her new job, wooing twelve new paramours—cue bathroom hookups, ghosts, getting ghosted, incredible macchiatos, and celesbians—and making some surprising discoveries about her needs and desires. Even when the dating challenge throws a few curveballs that make Gray question what she believes that she’s destined for, she’s determined to finish what she’s started while the planets are still on her side.
* This audobook edition includes a downloadable PDF that contains New Orleans food and drink pairings for each sign and two recipes from the book.

Dumond’s triumphant sophomore outing (after Queerly Beloved) finds heroine Gray hesitant to reenter the dating scene after ending her relationship with her partner of 10 years. Being new to New Orleans, where she’s living in the garage apartment of her childhood best friend Cherry and working in PR for a local private school, doesn’t boost Gray’s confidence, but she wants nothing more than to find a wife, settle down, and have kids. Prompted by a visit to a local astrologer, she challenges herself to go on a date with one person with each astrological sign in a mission to figure out which sign she’s most compatible with. Dumond makes this premise sing and the unusual structure keeps the true love interest an exciting mystery as readers will catalogue Gray’s dates with anticipation—which one will be the right match? As it turns out, Gray’s perfect relationship may be with someone entirely unexpected. Blending humor, tenderness, and a deep knowledge of astrology, this joyful queer romp will tickle anyone who believes that love is written in the stars. Agent: Jamie Carr, Book Group.

What a treat it is to listen to Kimberly Wetherell's sparkling narration of this fun and heartwarming rom-com. At age 29, Gray leaves Tulsa for a position in public relations at a prestigious private school in New Orleans, where her best friend, Cherry, lives. Having ended a ten-year relationship, Gray is encouraged by Cherry to embark on a six-week astrology dating project that will involve a date with one woman who was born under each of the 12 zodiac signs. The dates run the gamut, but Wetherell presents each scenario and the various women with distinction, nuance, and a dash of humor. Gray is portrayed with warmth and intelligence, and Wetherell's evocation of New Orleans keeps listeners engaged throughout. Listeners can't ask for a better summer listen. M.J. Twenty-nine-year-old Gray is just out of a 10-year relationship when she moves to New Orleans. Gray is finally ready to meet the person of her dreams, settle down, and build her own family. When she and her best friend, Cherry, visit astrologer Madame Nouvelle Lune, they devise a plan for Gray to meet the perfect person. An optimistic Aries, Gray sets out to sleep with one person from every zodiac sign in an attempt to find the perfect match. Can bathroom hookups, dates with famous lesbians, and other casual fun lead to her happily ever after? Dumond's (Queerly Beloved) second novel is a feel-good rom-com romp through the Big Easy. Between unexpected connections, ghost hunts, and abruptly ended dates, Kimberly M. Wetherell narrates Gray and the many people she meets, creating a vibrant portrait of the characters and the city as a whole. Though the tone is generally upbeat, Wetherell also handles Gray with a bit of tenderness as she struggles to make her way in life. VERDICT The perfect romance for listeners looking for a humorous story with lots of character growth and just the right amount of heat.--Elyssa Everling
