Early one frigid morning in January a young man named Thos Kahale walked into Lake Tahoe and died a brutal death. Hired to investigate, Detective McKenna learns of a manuscript that Mark Twain left in Hawaii in 1866. The manuscript turns up in Tahoe with deadly consequences. Only one person knows where it is, and that person will die unless McKenna can find him before a killer learns his identity.
