New York Times best-selling author Kay Hooper serves up another chilling psychological thriller that will have listeners on the edge of their seats. Beautiful, successful, blonde women are being murdered in a small, peaceful town where such horrible atrocities are not supposed to happen. Police Chief Rafe Sullivan knows he has to find the killer fast, but he doesn't know where to begin. Enter FBI profiler Isabel Adams. She's tough, fearless, and determined. Not to mention psychic-and blonde.

The third in a series of paranormal murder mysteries by this bestselling author is read by the Earphones-winning narrator Alyssa Bresnahan. A small town is visited by a serial killer who attacks blondes. An FBI blonde comes to investigate, one who has psychic powers and who herself has been brutalized by the same perpetrator. Another Bureau operative who sees dead people comes along, too. Their investigation is complicated by personal matters, such as a love affair with a local, who may also have "the gift." Bresnahan does a measured, workmanlike job in a crisp, well-articulated soprano. Her reputation for subtlety is a matter of taste; to this reviewer she seems disengaged from the material, though always listenable. Y.R. (c) AudioFile 2004, Portland, Maine
