For Sabrina Grimm, living in a community of fairy-tale characters means always being ready for trouble. And something is definitely wrong at her new school. The adults seem too angry, the kids seem too mean, and the gym teacher likes dodgeball way too much. Of course, her little sister, Daphne, is having the time of her life. (Who wouldn't, with Snow White for a teacher—she's great with little people!)
But when Sabrina's teacher, Mr. Grumpner, is found dead, dangling in a giant spiderweb, even Daphne's convinced that Ferryport Landing Elementary has a monster problem. Can the Sisters Grimm get to the bottom of this sticky situation?
Sabrina and Daphne are descendants of the Brothers Grimm, who were actually detectives of the magical phenomenon perpetrated by the Everafters, a parallel race of magical beings. They soon learn it is the Grimm family's legacy to keep the Everafters in line and the two sisters are the sole heirs to this challenge!
The beloved Sisters Grimm series is the perfect opportunity for existing fans to revisit the adventures of the Grimm family, Mayor Charming (Prince Charming), The Pied Piper, Mr. Canis (The Big Bad Wolf), and Rumpelstiltskin, and for new readers to discover the magic of a series filled with suspense, adventure, and heart.

Gr 4-6-In the second book (Amulet Books, 2005) in Michael Buckleys Sisters Grimm series, amateur detective sisters, Sabrina and Daphne, are compelled to investigate the gruesome deaths of a teacher and a custodian at their elementary school. Teaming up with Grandma Relda, immortal foster brother Puck, and others, the girls set off on a sometimes scary journey into the underbelly of Ferryport Landing, inhabited by both humans and Everafters (nursery story characters who fled there to escape persecution). For example, the schools principal is the Pied Piper of Hamlin, and a well-loved teacher is Snow White. L.J. Ganser narrates this derivative work so quickly that he occasionally seems out of breath. He falters at first with the accents for some of the characters, but recovers quickly and is able to create fairly distinguishable voices for the many people. Fans of the series and children who enjoy picking well-known nursery story characters out of a lineup may enjoy this mystery"Jennifer Verbrugge, Dakota County Library, Burnhaven Branch, Burnsville, MN"Copyright 2006 School Library Journal, LLC Used with permission.
