A wild look at our natural world for fans of Steve Irwin, James Herriot, and Bear Grylls
Millions follow Dr. Evan Antin and his wildlife adventures through social media and on his popular Animal Planet television show Evan Goes Wild. Now in his first book, World Wild Vet, Evan takes us to the deep blue seas, swimming with giant whale sharks with "puppy dog eyes," to jungles filled with venomous snakes (who are more afraid of you than you are of them), to a race across the savannah and against the clock to save rhinos from the clutches of poachersall in the name of adventure and a deep love for the wild around us.
Equal parts memoir, travelogue, and conservationist wake up call, World Wild Vet is an unforgettable exploration of the world we all call home and a love letter to the creatures we share it with.

To paraphrase Antin in the introduction to this fun book, this is the story of how a guy from Kansas was able to go all over the world to help animals. With the full-speed-ahead enthusiasm familiar to viewers of his Evan Goes Wild Instagram feed and Animal Planet show, Antin tells stories of his international travels and of how these experiences transformed him into the exotic animal veterinarian and conservationist that he is today. Beginning with his first trips to Australia and Tanzania, where he swam with whale sharks and learned not to get between a hippo and the water, he also chronicles working in Central America, Southeast Asia, and many other regions. Charming his way into helping with wildlife any way he can, he sedated giraffes for relocation, released baby sea turtles in Costa Rica, assisted with surgery on a stray dog in Tahiti, and taught rangers in Komodo how to safely remove venomous snakes instead of killing them. Even offering a nice, up-to-date bibliography, "America's Sexiest Vet" mixes animal conservation with a lust for adventure.(Reprinted with permission of Booklist, copyright 2020, American Library Association.)
