The conclusion to Child's "Dynasties: The Carey Center" series (after The Wrong Mr. Right) focuses on Justin, the youngest Carey and the sibling least involved in the family business. Readers who have followed the series will enjoy finding out the secret project that has kept Justin from the family business. Sadie Harris has been keeping a secret of her own since Justin walked away from her 15 months ago: his son. Business has brought them back together, and while the connection between them is obvious, Sadie has trouble believing that Justin won't walk away again and that he won't use his family connections to take her son away. Child takes the somewhat outrageous premise and uses it to her advantage, truly digging into the emotional stakes of the situation; though both her leads are upset, neither is obviously in the wrong. By the end, Child manages to wrap up all the dangling plot threads from her series, including the issues between the Carey parents. VERDICT The rapid-fire conclusion might be too quick for some readers, but Child has laid the groundwork for her happy ending.--Brigid Black, Lucius Beebe Memorial Lib., Wakefield, MA
