Fortunately for Claire, Richard now needs her expertise for help in shepherding his newly discovered cousin Samantha through her first London season. In exchange for Claire's help as Samantha's sponsor, Richard promises to provide the wherewithal Claire requires to secure her own future. As far as Claire is concerned, everything will go just fine with Richard as long as she focuses on the present and doesn't dwell on their past. Which turns out to be easier said than done once Claire realizes that Richard may be interested in courting her again.
