Her sister Calla has become engaged and is about to marry into the mob. Sydney finds herself tasked with stopping the wedding, uncovering the illegal goods, and trying to not to destroy her family in the process. But how can she face Grandma Ruby if she has to arrest her sister on Christmas Day? Fate intervenes with the oh-so-sexy Nick, who could be lover or foe. Sydney is both competent and confused in all the best ways, and the ideas of family and love are put to the test when nothing is as it appears to be. Sydney will have to choose between trusting her heart or her training. Fans of Stephanie Plum should give this funny and fast-paced sleuth novel a try. VERDICT Walker (author of Always, Clementine, as Carlie Sorosiak) makes her adult debut with this might-be-mob caper that is both a romantic comedy and a holiday mystery, complete with snow, carols, and gorgeous bodyguards wrapped in a bow.--Judy Garner
