Detective Finn Beaumont finds himself working on a case with his ex-lover, social worker Hayley Campbell. Gage, a little foster boy, is missing, and someone is sending threats to Hayley. After another child's disappearance, followed by Hayley's kidnapping, Finn soon realizes that his feelings for her never disappeared, and he would love for them to be together again. Hayley has a big heart and tries her best to get unhoused kids off the street. The fact that Finn was adopted and has the same background as some of those kids makes him love Hayley even more. Keeping her alive and finding the missing kids has him working overtime and putting everything else in his life on the backburner. VERDICT Lindsey's (Always Watching) development of these main characters is top notch and easily draws the reader in.--Shondra Brown
